Old people say that childhood is the best part of life. They look back at their childhood and remember all its happy days, the jolly games, the fun they had at school, jokes they used to play and the endless discussion they had among friends on almost every topic. Perhaps these old folks are right. And yet they forget many things that were not so pleasant in their childhood. There is a funny story that tells of a boy who was crying because he had to ho back to school after the holidays and the father scolded him and said, "Why, I only wish I could be a boy and go to school again." And all in A moment the father was a little boy and his son was a grown up man like his father. And the father in the shape of a little boy had to go to school, and I can tell you he did not like it at all. A child's troubles may seem small to grown - ups but they are very big to him.

 Questions:-

(i) How do old people describe childhood? (ii) Why did the father the boy?
(iii) What happened when the father wished to be a boy?
(iv) What do The old people forget?

Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given below in your own words:-
Have you heard of a place called Kanyakumari? It is a cape at the southernmost end of India. We sometimes say that Himalayas are the crown of mother India; so we can regard Kanyakumarias het holy feet.

At Kanyakumari there is a famous old temple. It stands on the southernmost point of land, very near the sea. Pilgrims bathe in the sea and go up into the temple for worship. In the temple, there stands a praying figure of a girl goddess; she stands facing the Bay of Bengal to cast. The goddess is called Kanyakumari. The place is called Kanyakumari after her. In foreign countries it is generally known by the name cape comorin: but its Indian name, Kanyakumari is now becoming popular.

 Questions:-

(i) What kind of a place is Kanyakumari and where is it
(i) What is regarded as the crown of mother India?
(iii) Where does the temple of Kanyakumari
(iv) What does one sce in the temple?

3. Read the following poem carefully and answer the questions given below your words:-

Weavers, weaving at break of day,
Why do you weave a garment so gay?
Blue as the wing of a halcyon wild,
We weave the robes of a new born child weavers, weaving at full of night,
Why do you weave a garment so bright?
Like the plumes of a peacock, purple and green
we weave the marriage - veils oa queen.
 Weavers, weaving solemn and still
What do you weave in the moonlight chill?
White as a leather and white as a Cloud,
we weave a dead man's funeral shroud.
